Industrial Age:
... a period of
time in the economic history
of the Western

by the Industrial

to wind down during the
20th century and a new age emerged, the Information
Age, but not all economies moved
in and out of the two or away
from
the
so called
Agricultural Age at the same time the
latter time period is mentioned
in the Answers.com definition of factors
of production.
One way of determine
where a specific economy is
in the progression towards the end of its industrial age
is watch for the shift industrial development practitioners
make to become economic developers. The answer to the question
of who first came up with the expression economic development
may be of interest

industry:
... the commercial production and distribution
of goods to buyers; the specific category of business activity
that encompasses manufacturing and
the distribution of manufactured products; an economic
sector or industrial
sector. The
term industry is sometimes used to describe a very precise
business
activity
(e.g.
semiconductors)
or a more generic business activity (e.g. consumer durables) ... (source).

... a systematic grouping of types of
business
enterprises and/or industrial operations more

industrial developer:
... a person engaged in industrial
development as a representative for
a location seeking economic
development who mainly focuses
on working with prospects that
create more than just a few jobs when expanding or
relocating. Industrial
developers are location

worthwhile choices for site
selectors to work with because they can assist
them by putting deals on the table for the places they
represent to consider, arranging for incentives, addressing
problems, and cutting red

production industry:
... the combination of labor and enterprise
wherein there is the creation of material benefits
known as goods and services. The expression is generally
associated with manufacturing, a process of converting raw
material and parts into finished product; i.e., the output
of
an industrial operation see
manufacturing industry. In an economy, manufacturing and
distribution enterprises are often classified together because
the whole point of industrial production as it relates to
workers as employees is to deliver something acceptable to
a customer.
