Where can I find a site selection glossary?

A comprehensive site selection lexicon will link the term to both enterprise development and economic development. Site selection is a process of enterprise development.

Site selection is embraced by economic development practitioners in pursuit of opportunities for locations they represent (site selection means doing site location work). Case in point: The International Economic Development Council published a comprehensive set of site selection data standards online as a reference primarily for use by location data suppliers as they organize their websites, marketing efforts, and prospect packages.

You are using a network of websites dedicated to enterprise and economic development. It targets a user group which includes enterprise developers and site selectors as well as their resource and service providers. Among its resources is the Enterprise and Economic Development Glossary which has definitions of various terms that begin with the word site.

Tools are provided at the Site Location Assistance.com website for you to search for terms that begin with the word combination, site + selection. Copy the following italicized text phrase and paste it to an SLA tool of your choice, then add additional word to search for the term you want defined: define site selection. In addition, we offer the search tool below to help you find the definitions of site selection terms. Copy the following italicized text line and paste it to see how the .network site selection glossary works: define site selection.

Where can a site selector begin a location data search online at the national level?

To begin a search for places of interest and their location data suppliers, site selectors can go to the Area Development section of Economic Development.net. A list of nations is there.

Area Development is organized for .network users to step through a series of files from national or local level. AD as a site selection resource is part of a share network. That means the process depends upon those who use AD requesting that national files be opened or refreshed. A user can send an email with the name of a nation as its subject. That triggers the opening or refreshing of its file(s)—no cost or obligation involved. It's a free service.

Users interested in certain regions within countries or who have lists of places of interest on hand simply add the additional request in the memo sections of their emails. Our (who we are) response to come up guidance on how to contact location data suppliers from national to local level or refresh outdated information is provided as a free service.

The services we provide for the the process begins with us adding to the GRC database. Information and a tool (below) for searching is made available online through the Global Registry of Contacts before Area Development files are opened or refreshed. Therefore, if you are have places of interest in mind and are ready to search now, try the GRC first.
