underdeveloped economy:
... the structure or condition of the production, development,
distribution and management of material wealth of latent potential in
a location; an economy that,
although going through change or
receiving attention, is considered not to be operating at its full potential.
Underdeveloped economies are likely to be
seen by concerned outsiders as areas in
need of socioeconomic development; i.e.,
a place where both social and economic factors
should be addressed, for example, see comments
about underdeveloped nations in the
encyclopedia of NationMaster.com. Also, a resource paper by John
L. Gallup is published online by the Center for International Development
at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA titled Geography
