The Enterprise and Economic Development Glossary search application ... a program or something similar as an executable (exe) that runs a query. A relatively small program may be referred to as a search app (application). For example, the search tool recommended for querying the global directory of contacts maintained by The Network is a simply written program. Helpguide for Searchers, page 9 of the introduction to The Network has information about using the example app. There are desktop search and page-search applications. Typically when you select the search results button on a page in The Network you link to a message that suggests you return and page-search. Your browser's tool bar most likely has a desktop search application available to help you look over a webpage selected from search results. The Google/.network search engine is an example of a program that's more than an app. See Search in the Enterprise and Economic Development Library
