real asset:

real property, such as commercial and industrial real estate. Owners of real assets have something of inherent value. A real asset can be held and used, for example, land that can be cultivated. And, of course, a real asset can be exchanged in a financial transaction.

A financial asset is something that represents a source of value, for example, a title, security, or a savings account. Money in circulation is referred to as a normal asset—it's something owned or controlled that has worth established solely by its market price.
