corporate real estate executive:

... a management-level employee of an enterprise that is not engaged in buying and selling property as its main line of business who is primarily responsible for property assests. The concept of corporate real estate managers as specialists, especially in the area of maintaining networks of resource and service providers for site selection apparently emerged with the organization known as the Industrial Development Research Council (IDRC) in the mic-20th century. Later the acronym CREAM or initials C.R.E.A.M. were used to refer to corporate real estate asset management and, sometimes, commercial real estate assets management.

The defininition for both commercial and industrial asset managers in this enterprise and economic development glossary offers a search of the Global Registry of Contacts for resource and service providers. Among them are area and local development contacts as well as other location data suppliers of interest to corporate real estate executives and site selectors.

site selection as well as development, maintenance, and disposition of real property. A manager with such responsibilities is typically involved in enterprise development.

Various associations focus on enterprise management as it relates specifically to real estate assets, for example, the Industrial Asset Management Council which states at its website:

(IAMC) ... is the leading association of industrial asset management and corporate real estate executives, their suppliers and service providers, and economic developers.

corporate real estate executive

Notice that the definition of real estate asset manager above shows a quote using the expression, corporate real estate executives. The predecessor organization to IAMC, the International Development Research Council (IDRC), referred to its active members for years as corporate real estate executives although their titles covered a wider range of responsibility levels for real estate assets and, especially, focused on their involvement in site location work (Site Selection Magazine ... official publication of both IDRC and IAMC).

The reference sets the precedent for defining corporate real estate executive, a loosely used expression, as anyone having management responsibilities related to property assets for an enterprise that doesn't deal in real estate transactions as its main line of business. Following is an example of the use of the term by Corenet Global:

CoreNet Global's membership base totals 7,000 corporate real estate executives, service providers and economic developers. This professional mix reflects the industry's focus on global alliance partnerships and on integrating the management of corporate assets, the workplace and infrastructure (source of quote)
