Production workers are people on the job or doing tasks that, according to Business Dictionary.com, involves them in ... processes and methods employed in transformation of tangible inputs (raw materials, semi-finished goods, or subassemblies) and intangible inputs (ideas, information, know how) into goods or services (source). They are typically thought of as employees involved in industrial or manual labor that requires the use of production tools or the operation of production machinery. On the job in manufacturing they may work on production lines (production line workers). Workers involved in industrial production are involved in machining, assembling, testing and inspecting. Those who understand voice of the customer strive for a level of productivity that meets set quality standards. A production line worker typically has to perform a task within a specific time frame; therefore, the job may be subject to a time and motion study. Production teams are organized for purposes of monitoring, controlling and/or measuring output. |
