process:

. . . a series or set of actions that produce results and can be depicted as a linear flow chart (not to be confused with a high-level flow chart). A process can be explained or documented as procedures — an ordered series of steps from start to finish.

For example, it states that . . . process defines 'what' needs to be done and which roles are involved and that . . . procedure defines 'how' to do the task and usually only applies to a single role. Also it indicates that processes include the roles and responsibilities of workers as well as tools and equipment.
