navigation tool:
... a contrivance that facilitates moving about while using a computer tool or working online.
Navigation tools as defined help you virtually move about with a sense of where you are and where you are headed. For example, you should see a message pop up when you position your pointer, without clicking, over a text link on this page. Likewise, you should see a message stating that the .network logo below is linked to a an introduction and user guide. The links move you on should you choose to click. If you choose to right click a tool menu pops up.
