make contact: ... to initiate an interpersonal rapport; an expression referring to an initial successful attempt to open communications that has the same analogical meaning as to touch whether or not there is acknowledgement or reciprocation involved; an networking expression indicating that the initiating party of an effort to build or maintain a relationship or communication exchange has successfully made the first step of ... getting in touch. The expression relates to the closing of an electrical circuit through the use of a switch or similar device. The Network maintains a Global Registry of Contacts. A mission statement suggests that a reason for using the GRC would be to search for contacts with whom one might choose to build working relationships. Search the GRC from here if the mission interests you. |
