Google the Web: ... to use the search engine of Google,
Inc; to query the Web with
the search
engine that has continuously held the top popularity
rating since its introduction in the late1990s (see the definition
of query the Web below); to query the Web with a search
engine that indicates it is powered by Google; to
use the search engine shown below to Google;
Googling. |
query the Web: ... to search online; to inquire of the Web or
the
Internet; to
retrieve information online. Webopedia.com,
an online encyclopedia dedicated to computer technology, defines a query
string in part by stating that ... (it does
not) exist until a user
plugs the variables into a database search, at which point the search
engine will create the dynamic URL with the query string based on the
results. This quote helps to explain that a query and a
search are essentially the same. Using the quote draws attention
to the following string definitions in this glossary: (1) location
identity string, (2) URL
address string, and (3) string. |
