As loyal business customers grow, their suppliers are likely to grow with them. The expansion process, which is a process of enterprise development, results. Thus, the pursuit of excellence is one of the dynamics of enterprise and economic development.

According to one business solutions consultant, striving for a higher standard of excellence in production in delivering goods and services is motivated by customer speak in the competitive environment where ... getting better faster is a race (source of quote).

goal oriented:

... a focus on what is believed to be the point at which a task, pursuit, or endeavor is successfully concluded; a directing of thought, energy, skill(s), and experience(s) towards the mastery of a specific purpose that is known or defined, especially in terms of when the point of success will be achieved. A sports analogy makes the definition of goal orientation clear:

Throughout the word there are games played on fields with goal lines and posts that mark the points for scoring. In whatever form, a goal has the players attention. They are goal oriented.

Goal orientation in competitive situations means having an objective. It may be to cross a goal line on a field of play. Ultimately the objective is to win the game. To compete in order to satisfy the ego by focusing on defeating an opposing player is a less positive goal orientation. In business and life in general, as well as in sports, defeating the opponent has its place but can easily get out of hand as a motivation. That's why there are penalties in contact sports.

Goal orientation comes down to self motivation. One definition of goal orientation states that it is ... a motivational construct referring to personal definitions of success (source).
