drive time:

. . . the amount of driving time it takes to get to a destination without taking into considering any unnecessary stops; likewise a measure of time in route within a time-span and/or a total from trip origin to final destination.

Commuters concerned with how much time they spend on the road traveling to and from their jobs use the term commute time.

The logistics of drive time for commercial vehicles has a bearing on site selection and facilities location. A project's site selection criteria might stipulate that the drive time between the location of a facility and the nearest commercial airport be no more than two hours. For example, the definition of regional area in this glossary quotes the typical enterprise developer concerned with drive time as saying My company needs to find a location within an hour's drive time from (pointing to a map) this city's commercial airport.
