A career is the chosen profession or occupation that one pursues through application of specific educational and/or training experience. A career is measured by progression within a certain field of work using a skills-set one is expected to have by a job description. To abandon one career pursuit and move to another in one's work life or in terms of one's professional achievements is a transitioning.
