area:

... the scope of what is recognizable from a spot where it is pointed out with a sweeping motion but not precisely defined by a fixed boundary. An area may be real in the sense that it exists with fixed markers in place, for example a real estate plot, or it may be imagined by describing certain features that appear to surround it, for example a valley surrounded by mountains.

An area may be a geography, such as a land area, or a bit space inside something, such as an area inside a closet. It may be a place with a name, such as a town which has a precise boundary but including its outlying, not-so-well-defined, contiguous environment, for example, a community in a rural area. An area may be a region within a country or it may be larger, such as a region of several countries. Within the context of the site selection process, an area may be a target location. For example, an enterprise developer points to a search area on a map and says: We need to find a location spot within 50 miles of this spot ... an airport.

real estate plot:

... a small real estate site; a small real estate lot, generally as a marked site or designated area; a plot of land; land within a real estate tract measured and designated for a specific purpose.

What's the difference between a real estate lot, plat, tract. and plot? A lot is a piece of real estate having specific boundaries and an assigned purpose. It is typically a defined area within a block of land. A block of land is defined here as a tract having specific boundaries within a section as well as an an assigned purpose and typically divided into units known as of lots.

A plat is the same as a plot. The term plat is often a reference to a mapped piece of land showing its planned or actual features, for example, a platted real estate tract. Tract is defined as more expansive than a plot or block but is a sp edifiedarea of land having boundaries.
