Advanced searching as opposed to simple searching refers to the use of filters that enable you to define search criteria more precisely. A technique that might improve the quality of a simple search is to create search terms that have phrases. Page down for examples of creating simple search parameters using quotation marks to make search phrases. The following search tool has pull-down menus for filtering. Its left pull-down shows three search parameter settings. Use the tool to search for search parameters then change the pull-down on the left from any terms to as a phrase. Search again for search parameters as a phrase to see how your search efficiency is improved. What does search quality mean?
