Places seeking economic development:

Our (who we are) mission
is to bring ... people together
to make enterprise development that leads to economic development happen (source
of quote). It's not our mission alone, however. Users of The
Network like you are the ones who make things happen.
Our user
group includes location contacts as
well as those who simply have a community-spirited interest
in the economic
development of
their locales.
Locations throughout
the world wanting to attract the attention of participants in
The Network mission, for example, are
places seeking
economic development. If doesn't matter whether prospects are
outsiders or already a part of the location'seconomy.
Area
Development in Economic
Development.net is a place to start looking
for locations, given they have the opportunity
to list, for free there and to include links to to the websites of location
data suppliers as well as where online their economic development
data is available.

offers a collection of the various elements of economic
development data that are found, for example, at the websites of location
data suppliers. To view the collection, go
to page 2 of About Site Selection. A development
alliance which included The International Economic Development Council set
forth 25 spreadsheets with 1,200 plus informational elements as data
standards. IEDC refers to them as site
selection standards, making them available
for free download as Site
Selection Data Standards. The collection of economic development
data elements The Network has could easily be referred to
as site selection informational elements but all items don't necessarily
match with IEDC spreadsheets. That's because the comprehensive collection
available in Site
Location Assistance.com is a list of items gleaned from location
packages and community
profiles as well as websites.

FAQ: What do initials overlaying file-folder-buttons
stand for? answer |

Places of interest to site selectors:

Site
selectors need contacts who
can provide real
estate and
economic
development data about places
of interest. Site selectors are much more able to approach
location work effeciently when they have networks in
place as they begin to gather information.

a location

A location contact is someone positioned to supply information ... about
a place
of interest, in other words, a location
data supplier (types
of location data suppliers).
See the file, Location
Contacts ... How to Find Them or use the following
information.

How to search for a location:

Enter
the Area Development section of the Economic
Development Network website to select a nation
as a location. The section is organized
for you to step through a series of files until you arrive at a
listing of a place
of interest. At that point you should see a links for
accessing contact
data for a resource
supplier and/or economic
development information. The latter
may be presented in the form of a profile or
directory of location data elements.

Location
contacts as well as other resource
and service providers are listed in Find
Me Here.com, the Global
Registry of Contacts website. They
are listed as mission
contacts.

The Network provides free
access to contact directories other than its own. Its link
here to the Economic Development Directory, www.ecodevdirectory.com,
is an example, as is the availability of the Google/.network search
engine for querying niche publications dedicated to site
selection reporting
and advertising. The publications are listed in the Site
Location Assistance website. The best example, however, is the the .network collection
of US
Economic Development Directories ... altogether the directories
probably link members of the target audience of The Network to
more location contacts than any other resource.

Use the Google/.network
search engine to query the Web. CLICK HERE for
suggestions of various ways that you can use keyword
combinations to
search for locations. A
page of the resource archive in Site Location
Assistance.com has more suggestions. If you go there notice that many
of the keyword listings are followed by a link, identify
a location, in parentheses. It's a suggestion that you add
the
location identity of a specific place
of interest to the keywords. Notice
also that the abbreviation demo is linked at each line of keywords.
